Will bull riding remain a western/cowboy sport?

It doesn't seem that long ago that I saw the first vest & the first cowboy wear a helmet.  I think the vests are a must...... The helmet wear it if you like, but I sure like the look of a cowboy hat better.  At least put one on after your ride.

So in 5, 10 or 15 years are we going to see the "cowboys" all decked out in protective gear looking like something from the X games or skateboarder?  It may not be just a safety issue, but also a marketing issue in that you’ll never be seen as true extreme sport wearing cowboy hats.

As the sport of bull riding grows we will see more bull riders from less traditional backgrounds? Could be the the first time the inner-city guys puts on a pair of boots was when he sets on a bull.

I'm a bit of an old fashioned traditionalist.  I really do want to see the sport grow, but I also prefer the bull riders to be cowboys.

Prefer bullriders to be cowboys? What about cowboys to be bullriders? What next? All blonde haired blue eyed bullriders or the concentration camp?

i am sorry that you feel this way. but as a bullrider i understand that you do it so that the injuries that you haveyoU dont want tto worsen. look at Tuf Hedeman. face shattered and charlie sampson and other greats. they are reason for the mask.
